Business folks in Region Two Pomeroon/Supenaam) and budding entrepreneurs, were on Monday educated about some of the most viable approaches Essequibo business personalities can pursue in their pursuit of a
viable business.
They were at a forum hosted by Minister of business, Dominick Gaskin, who visited the Region on Monday.
The meeting in itself helped to educate business enthusiasts how to access micro financing (small loans) through the Ministry of Business. This Ministry has initiated the small and micro economic loan which is currently in the first phase.
Gaskin stressed that while he hopes to engage business personnel in the future, in order to promote potentially independent business opportunities, collaborative consultations is needed.
Gaskin also spoke about the need for political and regional independence.
The initiative started almost two years ago and Gaskin said there would be need for component training as well as component interest subsidy and loan collateral component.
Some of the core issues raised by some Essequibo business folks are feasibility studies, diversification, Agro-processing, marketing, drainage and irrigation, financing and sensitisation of micro financing.
And some $11.5 M was allocated through the Tender Board to the NDC’s to create employment in Region Two. (Yannason Duncan)
