Dear Editor,
There was an incident which occurred on two different occasions, in which a wife (a resident from Pomona Housing Scheme) was physically and verbally abused by her husband. On the 6th July, 2015 the husband slapped & pushed his wife where she fell and hit herself. She had mark of violence on her body and she went to the Aurora Police Station to make a report. There, Sergeant Madray told her he would take care of the matter; she also obtained a medical from the Suddie Hospital. The Sergeant then told her that the matter will have to go before the court. On to this date, the violated woman didn’t even get the court date. The husband is a very passionate person and continue saying no police can’t arrest him, because money rule the world.
On the 16th day of October, 2015, the wife again has been abused, but this time was worst because there was blood shed. She couldn’t bear the pain, so she moved to her parents’ home for two (2) days. They reside in Adventure Essequibo Coast. Again she made a report, but this time it was made at the Suddie Police Station; here again she obtained another medical. However, the police sent her to the Probation Officer. The Probation Officer called both of them twice, but the husband attend once. Yet again nothing has come out of the matter. No justice was served for the wife because the husband wasn’t punished in neither of the two incidents where he wronged his wife. Maybe the police will take it into consideration when the husband eventually murder his wife. Because this husband has no respect for his wife nor his two daughters. Justice should be served to this violated woman whose reports fell to deaf ears. Commander, please look into this matter. It would be highly appreciated if the violence against women’s group could step into the matter before it gets worse.
