Ramesh Parsram, 46, was on Wednesday evening shot twice by two bandits in what appeared to be a failed robbery attempt. Parsram, of Palmyra Village, East Coast Berbice, is a market vendor. With his wife, Sabrina, 40, and with some relatives, he was having a drink under their house around 22:00 hrs, when two men appeared on the premises.
When he enquired the reasons for the men being around, the bandits opened fire hitting Parsram to his abdomen and chest. The bandits then fled the scene without taking anything.
The police were informed and responded promptly.
Parsram was picked up and rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was admitted for emergency surgery and placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
He was subsequently taken out of the ICU on Friday. The bullets are reportedly still lodged in the man’s body.
Police are investigating.
