A patient of the National Psychiatric Hospital made another appearance before Chief Magistrate Ann
McLennan, yesterday, to answer a charge of carjacking.
He was deemed unfit to stand trial by State Psychologist, Dr. Bhiro Harry.
Raymond Samaroo, 24, a minibus driver, of 20 Owen Street, Kitty, Georgetown, had to answer the charge which read that on October 28, at Station Street, Kitty, he stole one Toyota Allion valued $3 million, property of Eon Pearson.
The accused has been previously charged with three similar offences, including one instance of stealing one CRV Motor Car valued at $5 million, while the driver was purchasing a meal at a Chinese restaurant.
The Magistrate had remanded him and ordered that he be evaluated by Dr. Harry to determine whether he was fit to stand trial.
Dr. Harry’s report stated that Samaroo is incapable of standing trial. Attorney Paul Fung-A-Fat made an application for the file to be sent back to the Director of Public Prosecutions for advice.
Samaroo was placed on $10,000 bail and has been admitted to the Psychiatric Clinic.
