The respective winners of the Georgetown Zone of the Guinness ‘Greatest of the

Streets’ Futsal Competition received their monetary prizes and trophies during a simple ceremopny that was conducted yesterday in the Boardroom of sponsor Banks DIH, at Thirst Park.
Headling the list of teams receiving prizes was Sparta Boss, who was crowned new champions of the Georgetown Zone after beating debutants Channel 9 Warriors 1-0 in a tense and exciting final on Saturday, at the National Park.
For the win, Sparta Boss, who is the current national champions collected $400,000 and the winning trophy, while the Warriors received $200,000 and a trophy.
Third place finisher North Ruimveldt, who failed to send a representative, will receive $150,000 and a trophy, while former champions Back Circle took home $75,000 and a trophy.
Sparta Boss’s Sheldon Shepherd was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and he collected a replica.
Meanwhile, Guinness Brand Manager Lee Baptiste speaking at the occasion thanked the teams, fans and the media for their support throughout the tournament and called on them for similar support during the staging of other tournaments in different locations.
He said the Company was extremely proud to have concluded the Georgetown Zone which ran trouble free, adding that several milestones were achieved during its staging.

He mentioned the performance of debutants Channel 9 Warriors, who had to endure the qualifying rounds to reach the main draw and went as far as the final an achievement Lee referred to as tremendous.
He also cited the record number of entries which stood at 58, the largest number of teams to have signaled an interest in participating in the competition.
The Guinness Brand Manager also cited the performance of Jamaica’s dancehall artisite and Guyana’s own Natural Black as adding value to the tournament, while the turnout of fans throughout the event was the largest ever to descend, especially the final.
He closed by urging all teams to continue preparations for the upcoming national finals set for next year.
Petra Organisation’s Director Troy Mendonca whose entity is charged with the organisation of the event said this year’s competition rpovided more excitement, especially from the young teams and this he pointed to as solid proof of the format’s growing status as a must see among football lovers.
He, too, thanked the teams, fans and media for their support throughout the tournament.
Also in attendance were Company Communications Manager Troy Peters, Ginness representative Shawn Stephney and Rainforest Waters Brand Manager Errol Nelson.
