Former National Football player Richard ‘Fox’ Clarke has died in the United States. This information was relayed by his teammate, former player and Coach Lennox Arthur.
Arthur disclosed that Clarke died just recently in the US where he was residing. He described him as a strong skilled player who played with a lot of heart. The ‘Fox’ was one of the Tutorial boys back in the days that ruled the roost in local football. He along with Michael Hamden, Donald Neblette and Michael Pierre attended the Tutorial High School.
Arthur noted that Clarke was among a distinguished company. He was one of the members of the first youth national team to represent Guyana. He also stood out as being among only a few of those players that went on to represent Guyana at all levels (U-17, U-19, U-23) straight through to the senior national team. The others that held this distinction were Arthur, Pierre, Hamden, Neblette, Terry Camacho, Dennis Humphrey, David Woolford and Eric Phillips.
Arthur extended his heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of the late Richard ‘Fox’ Clarke.
