A gun-toting, 63-year-old landlady is in hot water for allegedly shooting at a 15-year-old girl, during a dispute between the teen and a younger sister.
The incident occurred last Saturday at Parika, Essequibo.
A senior police official confirmed that investigators have taken the woman into custody and seized her licenced .32 pistol. She was subsequently released on bail but was questioned again yesterday.
The parents of the two girls, aged 15 and 14, are tenants at the woman’s Parika, Essequibo residence.
It alleged that around 08.00 hrs on Saturday, one of the girls, aged 14, told her elder sister that the landlady had doused her with water and struck her with a bucket.
According to reports, the elder sister told her sister to make a report at the Parika Police Station. However, while the elder sister was standing on the woman’s bridge, she allegedly heard gunshots and saw the woman shooting at her. The teen escaped uninjured.
Police who investigated the complaint recovered a spent shell and warhead.
A senior police official said the woman was questioned but is not at present in custody. He said that the matter is being further investigated.
