Organizers receive approval letter from WICB
Legacy and 007 Promotions, in collaboration with corporate sponsors and support from the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB), the Guyana Floodlight Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) will hold a day of fun and frolic for the entire family at the Providence Stadium on Saturday January 30. The event will climax with a scintillating t20 cricket match under lights involving the Caribbean’s best t20 cricketers.
Last week the organizers received a letter of approval from the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) for the game which will see some of the biggest names in West Indies cricket in action for what should be a capacity crowd of over 15,000 fans and a winner’s Prize of $1 million dollars and the President’s Trophy.
Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Smith, Darren Sammy, Andre Russell, Krismar Santokie and Nick Pooran should all be in action for an All Stars team which will face a President’s X1 under lights. The Organizers are expecting confirmation from three of the top t20 players in World by early next year.
The atmosphere at Providence should be absolutely electric since the game will be broadcast live by NCN Radio’s top Commentators, while three Cheerleaders for each team will compete beyond the boundary by ‘strutting their stuff’ to pulsating rhythms from the sound system.
Leon Johnson, Rajendra Chandrika, Chris Barnwell, Jonathon Foo, Veerasammy Permaul, Devendra Bishoo, Anthony Bramble, Steven Jacobs, Raymond Reifer, Jevon Searles and Shiv Chanderpaul should be names featuring in the match, while there will also be softball cricket from some of the country’s leading teams in both male and female categories with the softball final also being played under lights.
According the Public Relations Office (PRO) of the Event former National off-spinner Sean Devers, the fun will begin from as early as 10:00hrs and will include Ferris wheels, Trampolines and other activities for Children.
Devers informed that tickets, which should go on sale early next year, will allow fans the opportunity to witness the cricket and have unlimited rides in the fun park with no additional cost.
“This is an ideal occasion to bring out the young, the old and the in between for a New Year’s treat and come back in the evening or stay the entire day to see International cricketers display their talent in t20 cricket which has captured the interest of many young fans who have little passion for Test Cricket,” Devers concluded.
He also informed that an official ‘Event Launch’ will be held shortly.
