Skeldon are the 2015 UCCA/Hotel Riverton Suites Under-19 champions. After being the runner up last year the boys from Skeldon make no mistake this time around playing undefeated in the entire competition. In front of a crowd never seen
elsewhere for an under-19 final at the No. 72 Cut and Load ground, Skeldon won the toss and send No. 72 Cut and Load to bat first. No. 72 Cut and Load made a 272 all out in 40.2 overs in what seems to be a match winning total at that point.
No. 72 boys got off to a good start by losing their first wicket with 77 runs on the board between Ritesh Bhagratti 36 and Abdur Ajib 31. But batting at No. 4 Permashwar Chatterpaul blast his way to a brilliant century scoring 135 (12×6 & 7×4) and he got good support from his skipper Davanand Chatterpaul 35. Bowling for Skeldon Totaram Rajaram took 3 for 30 off 10 overs and Z. Gordon 3 for 30 off 4.4 overs.
In reply Skeldon got over the line with some sensible and exciting hitting to the end with 273 for 6. Batting at No. 3 Totaram Rajaram scored 50 and got good support from Deon Esau 34, P. Deochan 29 and some big hitting from R. Mohabir 40 not out and T. Shiwamber 25 not out. Bowling for No. 72 Cut and Load Davanand Chatterpaul took 3 for 33 off 10 overs and Abdur Ajib 1 for 40 off 10 overs.
Skeldon walked away with the Hotel Riverton Suites Trophy and $30,000 whilst No. 72 Cut and Load got $20,000 and a trophy. Permashwar Chatterpaul received the man of the match trophy & $5,000 for his century and 1 wicket. The MVP of the competition was Davanand Chatterpaul for taking 16 wickets and scoring 164 run, the batsman with the most runs was Ritesh Bhagratti he scored 210 runs whilst the leading wicket taker was Davanand Chatterpaul for his 16 wickets, they all received a trophy and $5,000 each. Umpires, board officials and friends of Hotel Riverton Suites all received memorabilia.
At the presentation Dr. Seepersaud thanked the large crowed for coming out and he encouraged the young cricketers to continue to work on their game and it is his hopes that one day a cricketer from Upper Corentyne will play for the West Indies. Also at the presentation UCCA Secretary Mr. Winston Roberts thanked Dr. Seepersaud for sponsoring this competition for a second year.
