On Monday, United States Ambassador, Perry Holloway, visited Mashabo, an Amerindian
Community located in the Ituribisi River in Essequibo.
While Mr. Holloway’s visit was merely one of familiarisation, it was a special opportunity for the residents of the hinterland community to have met the US Ambassador. It was noted that Holloway who never visited any hinterland community in Guyana since his arrival in Guyana as US Ambassador, took the opportunity to visit Region Two where he interacted with council, staff, pupils, teachers and Peace Corps worker, Megan Bitter.
Mashabo is equipped with a Health Post, a Nursery and Primary School. The residents in that community undertake logging and fishing for a living.
Mr. Holloway was accompanied by Ms. Linda Arbergrass, Peace Corps Country Director; Jeff Wayland, Financial Officer; and Jamal Goodluck. (Yannason Duncan)
