Plaisance Secondary School and Marian Girls were the latest winners from week four of Youth Basketball Guyana’s Age-Group Tournament, which continued with seven games on Saturday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Plaisance Secondary defeated St. Joseph High School 28-14 in the Under-15 category of the tournament with Andrew Johnson scoring 12 points and Matthew Moses seven points. For St. Joseph, Immanuel Younge scored six points.
Continuing in the Under-15 group, Tutorial High defeated Bishops’ High 27-21 with Zion Gray adding 14 points and Stanley Moore six points. For Bishops’, Roydon Glasgow scored 12 points.
St. Roses High also had a win in the category, beating Marian Academy 27-15 with Anthony Yansen pouring in 15 points, together with four rebounds and four steals while Kwesi Roberts had six points, six rebounds and four steals.
For Marian Academy, Josiah Daniels scored six points. Marian Academy’s Girls’ team was also on the winning side with an 11-5 victory over St Roses High. Georgianna Vyphuis had six points and 15 rebounds and Jahrier Young six rebounds. For St. Roses, Lotifa Caesar scored three points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
In the Under-17 competition, President’s College defeated Bladen Hall Secondary 65-17 with
Kadeem Peterkin scoring 18 points and grabbing seven rebounds; Anton Fileen scored 17 points, grabbed five rebounds and took seven steals for President’s College. For Bladen Hall, Darnell Hamer had 10 points and eight rebounds.
North Georgetown defeated Queens College 31-24 with Devon Hazel scoring 14 points with eight rebounds and Javroll Shepherd 12 points and five steals. For Queens College, Omari Joseph scored 11 points and Brian Peters raked in 11 rebounds.
Also in the U-17 Group, Marian Academy defeated Bishops’ High 41-24; Jordan Alphonso scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Jonathan Mangra five points, coupled with 11 rebounds. For Bishops’ High, Timothy Thompson had 12 points and 18 rebounds.
The YBG Age-Group Circuit Tournament will break for the Christmas Season and continue in January next year.
