Dear Editor,
Thank you for allowing us this opportunity to share our experiences that occurred about 3 weeks ago with the public. After a week of long intense hours on the job, a group of coworkers decided to go hangout after work. Many venues were considered however the 704 Sports Club and Bar was agreed upon by the majority mainly because of the proclaimed secure parking. We got to the Bar at around 18:30 hours. At approximately 20:45 hours, one of the person’s in the group went to retrieve his cell phone charger from a bag that was inside of the locked car that was parked opposite one of the guard huts in the parking lot. It was then discovered that the car was broken into, the small triangular glass on the left back door was broken to gain entry (attached).
What happens next is what surprised us all. After my co-worker informed the security personnel, he returned upstairs to inform the group of what had happened. As the owner of the car I immediately ask to speak to the manager on duty. After a few minutes, the manager came out saying that they knew of the break in more than an hour before however, they thought the vehicle belonged to someone who was not a customer at the establishment since they had sent their waitresses to each table to find out. I don’t know how true that was because of course no one came to our table which was situated on the left upon entrance via the sports club door. So I then suggested that if they had lowered the music and announced the vehicle number that would have been a better method. The manager later replied saying, “we don’t have a microphone and there is a sign at the entrance of the parking lot saying don’t leave valuables in your car.” After getting the sense that no one was concerned or interested in our plight we left the bar. I returned early the next week and spoke to another manager named Ryan. He collected my contact information and promised to have the head of security go through security camera footage. However, he never called, so I decided to call back and he expressed surprise that I was not contacted by the head of security and he promised to return a call in 2 minutes. Low and behold that call never came through.
In conclusion, I admonished my fellow brothers and sisters of the public to be very careful when parking their locked vehicles at 704 Sports Bar and Club parking lot; Could one ask the question if the persons in place to look over these vehicles (i.e. 704 Security) are somewhat involved in orchestrating these break-ins? I am not stating that position but simply asking the question. The top management of 704 Sports Bar and Club really need to revisit their Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for their Security sector, so that in the future, problems of this nature would be dealt with in a better manner and some effective remedy could be put in place to curb this rampant situation.
