To ensure that items arrive at their designated locations by Christmas Day, the Guyana Post Office Corporation (GPOC) has issued its postal deadline.
A statement from the GPOC stated that all items intended to arrive at overseas destinations for Christmas Day, should be posted on or before December 9, while local items should be posted by December 16.
GPOC pointed out that all postings done on or before the aforementioned dates will increase the guarantee of timely delivery for the holidays, and customers are reminded to ensure that items are addressed correctly and affixed with a return address.
With all systems in place, and a few extra tweaks here and there, officials of the Guyana Post Office Cooperation (GPOC) indicated yesterday that they are set and ready to take on the hustle and bustle that usually occurs during the Christmas season.
Deputy Postmaster General, Abdul Hassan, in an interview yesterday, related that in order to have full optimization at the GPOC, they have minimised the number of annual vacations leading up to the season. In addition to that, systems have also been put in motion as it relates to service accommodation; a widening of the service areas in anticipation for clients who usually wait for the last moment to use their services.
Postal costs will remain the same during the Christmas season, Hassan stated, with domestic postages at $80 and international postage ranging from $130 to $200.
Public Relations Officer, Telesha Whyte, is calling on customers to take advantage of their “Express Service” where persons can pay an additional cost and have their mail prioritised and delivered to recipients both locally and international.
