Dear Editor,
It seems that some people are bent on giving misinformation to the public and also that they never wants to see a uncorrupted Guyana led by people who have Guyana’s development at heart in making sure that we move forward with accountability and transparency where all Guyanese will have a better live with equal opportunity.
Recently we heard the crying of the members of the opposition the PPP\C saying all ill things about the projects the APNU+AFC government inherited that started under their corrupted administration and watch. We heard the Opposition Leader saying that the company that was hired by his administration to do the expansion of the airport will cheat Guyanese and the project is corrupted. Well this is sending a signal to all that voted for the PPP\C to listen and learn where the corruption started and who were the ones giving away the hard earned tax payers dollars to the Chinese company.
Again we heard the former Attorney General saying that he will challenge the award of the contract for the specialty hospital which this government give to the next and only bidder in that project. Now this man seems to be blind-minded and have his personal agenda because he is no longer the AG and he cannot advise anyone in the Government to do things that will hamper Guyana like the proroguing of Parliament, etc.
It is this corrupted party that was in Government that had the tendering process done for the project and it was his government that awarded it to one of the two bidders; mostly they awarded the contract to the most incompetent bidder who have no knowledge and experience in building such or was never involved in such a project. Because of that the contractor that was awarded went away with almost 1 billion Guyanese tax dollars without doing any major works on the project.
It is clear that the project will go on under this government and it will be free from corruption and full of transparency with accountability every step of the way. Now I don’t know how the former AG will be challenging the award of the contract to the other bidder saying there was no tendering process. There was clearly two bidders who tendered for the job when it was advertised under his Government’s watch and now that one of the bidders who was awarded the contract cannot be found, this government has took the initiative to give the existing remainder of the contract to the next best bidder who is the only one left for the project. What’s wrong with that Anil?
But I am being made aware that somebody in the opposition camp wants to setup a new contracting form to bid for the project. So maybe if this is to happen, we will end up giving the contract to that new company. They too may leave with another 1 billion Guyana taxpayers dollars and the project will be stalled again.
As a Guyanese, I think the government has done the true and correct thing to award the contract to the next best bidder without going back through the process of re-tenderning. It’s not a new project, it’s a project that was started and never ended under the PPP\C because of the corruption in it.
The former AG must now explain to us when he comes on NTN in Berbice as to where is the company that they give the 1 billion dollar to for the project? How much equipment they left in Guyana or if they had any? When will we, the tax payers get back our monies that he and his government give away to the company? Where is the company head quarters in Guyana and if they had who owned it? Etc.
The AG need to ask Mr. Ralph Ramkarran to educate him more as to the ways of having an uncorrupted government and party. He also need to ask Mr. Ramjattan to school him as to how to become an anti corruption crusader in Guyana, the Caribbean and afar.
