GTT / Limacol Round Robin / Knockout Football Competition…
The two major sponsors of the GTT / Limacol Round Robin / Knockout Football Competition which is set to conclude today in the Mining Town of Linden have both agreed that they are pleased with the level of organisational efficiency and standard of play witnessed so far and are hoping that the final exceed all expectations.
Speaking with the media on Friday, a representative from GTT said that they are happy with the way the tournament has been conducted, adding that they were confident that the Petra Organisation was capable enough to run off a successful competition.
The Telephone Company rep added that the mere fact that they were able to secure confirmatioin and subsequent participation from teams in three different associations speaks volumes about their ability to forge friendships and co-operation among the various associations and this is a good development for the sport which has suffered so much in recent times.
New GPC representative Dwayne Lovell whose enity’s involvement comes under its Limacol brand said the Organisation was doing a very good job judging from all the reports and they are happy to be part of the tournament.
He pointed to the inclusion of teams from three different associations as testimony to the ability of the Organisation to bring togetherness to a fraternity that has struggled in the past to do so.
Lovell said given the fact that Limacol is a prominent stakeholder in cricket and has seen it fit to get on board with football is a true testimony to their commitment towards the development of sports locally.
He further stated that Petra Organisation should be commended for the work that they are doing in helping to foster the development of football, while also crediting them with executing a good tournament.
The final is between Linden’s Milerock and East Coast Demerara’s Victoria Kings at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
