The Adolphus family of Richmond Village, Essequibo Coast, is losing hope of finding five-year-old, Daniel Adolphus, alive. The child went missing early Wednesday morning.
His father in whose care the child was left is alleging that the child may have wandered off or someone must have been kidnapped. The child’s distraught mother, Natasha Adolphus, however still feels that her husband, Junior Adolphus, has knowledge of their child’s whereabouts. She is even suggesting that the man could have possibly harmed little Adolphus and is not saying anything.
Mrs. Adolphus said that she learnt about her son’s disappearance while she was in Georgetown conducting some important business.
Adolphus said that her son and her daughter were left in the care of her husband. She said that a family member alerted her to her son’s “mysterious” disappearance and immediately she made efforts to return to the Essequibo Coast.
Adolphus said that after questioning her husband she was not given any solid lead which could possibly help in finding her son. She said all she was told by her husband is that her son has wandered away from home or was kidnapped.
Adolphus said that she is not inclined to believe either of her husband’s stories. She is maintaining he must know what has happened to their son and is not talking. She added that the child is not familiar with his surroundings and she is finding it strange to believe he would wander off alone. “The only place he goes to is a nearby shop”.
Adolphus said that her husband is on medication. Some time in April he tried to kill his son, she said. The Primary School child however sustained a minor cut and was taken to the Suddie Public Hospital where he was treated and sent away.
Adolphus is contending that recently she was admitted to hospital where she delivered her last child. The two older children, including her missing son, were left again in her husband’s care. Adolphus also made reference to the child never leaving or attempting to leave home whenever they are left in her care.
Natasha Adolphus said that the police were informed. She said the search continued on Friday for her son. Family, friends and neighbours are assisting. (Yannason Duncan)
