Upper Corentyne zone has named a strong team to participate in the Local Franchise Cricket limited overs tournament scheduled to start today. The zone which is one of the eight areas identified to participate in the competition is one of the favourites, boosting players from Albion, Rose Hall Town and Port Mourant cricket clubs.
The team will be led by all rounder Lloydel Lewis with Shiraz Ramcharran the vice captain.
The rest of the 15 man squad is Joshua Ramsammy, Rajiv Ivan, Jonathan Foo, Arif Chan, Manoj Looknauth, Clinton Pestano, Eon Hooper, Jason Sinclair, David Latchaya, Samuel Kishnasammy, Balchand Baldeo, Retesh Umrao and Shaun Pereira.
The standby players are Metetri Cameron, Daniel Lewis, Adrian Sukwah, Keon Sinclair and Nicholas Seenarine.
Former National player Andre Percival and Winston Smith are the coaches.
Upper Corentyne will take on East Coast Demerara in their first match today at Enmore.
Tomorrow they are expected to be at home to Lower Corentyne (New Amsterdam, Canje, East Coast Berbice) in the game scheduled for the Port Mourant ground.
The games are expected to begin at 09:30 hrs and are of 50 overs duration.
