Former national Under-19 player Khemraj Mahadeo stroked an attractive 50 to lead Rose Hall Town Bakewell (RHTB) to an easy 7 wicket win over Whim in the Raffik & Sons Construction Service 2nd Division 20-Overs cricket competition for teams in the Lower Corentyne/Central Corentyne area.
The victory marked #7 for RHTB which has propelled them into the semifinals. Batting first after winning the toss, Whim National were restricted to 123-8 off their 20-overs as the young Rose Hall bowlers operated with a tight control.
Only Yogindra Sooknanand offered any resistance with an attacking 70 not out (5×4 2×6); the only other batsman to reach double figures was Yogindra Harrinarine, 12 not out. Bowling for RHTB, Guyana Under-15 all-rounder Junior Sinclair claimed 4-14 and left arm spinner Keith Simpson 2-27. National Under-15 player Kevlon Anderson bowled his four overs of medium pace for a meager seven runs without taking a wicket.
In response, Mahadeo and his hard hitting opening partner Vidal Crandon added 70 for the first wicket before Crandon was caught off V. Samaroo for a well played 40 (3×4 2×6) in the 9th over. Mahadeo and another Rose Hall veteran, Michael Hicks then added 38 for the 2nd wicket before both fell in quick succession to medium pacer Yogindra Harrinarine via the LBW route.
Mahadeo scored an even fifty while Hicks contributed 18. Mark Papannah 09 not out and Kevlon Anderson 02 not out then guided their team home in 19.1 overs. RHTB will oppose arch rivals Courtland in the first semifinal at the Fyrish Ground on a date to be fixed by the Berbice Cricket Board.
