GTT / Limacol Round Robin / Knockout League….
Taking a similar route to that of rivals Victoria Kings, Milerock Head Coach Brian ‘Joe Boy’ Joseph told the media yesterday via telephone that he too is only prepared to predict a win, but not the strategies they will employ during Sunday’s final of the GTT / Limacol Round Robin / Knockout League set for the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
Joseph whose team played its final domestic League game on Wednesday evening said that all the focus right now is on preparing for Sunday’s matchup against the Kings, adding that they are relishing the opportunity to win for the very first time a competition which involves teams from other associations.
“We have a chance to write our little history should we win on Sunday because we’ve never won a tournament that involved teams from other associations,” Joseph noted.
Quizzed on what strategies they intend to employ against a Kings team that should be brimming with confidence after claiming the scalp of one of the better teams in the Mining Community of Linden in Topp XX, Joseph responded by saying that he does not wish to do that, but would only say that they’ve had the opportunity to watch their opponents play on at least two occasions during the competition and they know what line of attack they will implement.
Joseph said that the team needs no further motivation, having to claw their way back into contention after losing their two opening games and to meet where they are is enough inspiration to win.
He pointed to the prolific Clarence Huggins as the lynchpin in their quest for victory, but so too are Denzil Fordyce and Randy Jerome.
Jermaine Grandison and Akeem James will marshal the backline, while Martin Leacock will be stationed between the uprights.
Joseph closed by saying that they owe the people of Linden the win and they will be going all out to do that.
