Hotel Riverton Suites/Upper Corentyne U-19 cricket competition…
The Skeldon Community Centre and No. 72 Cut and Load Cricket Club have advanced to the final of the 2015 Hotel Riverton Suites Upper Corentyne Under-19 cricket competition which is scheduled for
this Sunday December 6 at the No. 72 Cut and Load ground.
Skeldon CC being runner up last year to No. 70 Young Star will want to make amends this time around against the boys from No. 72 whom they have defeated in the preliminary rounds. Skeldon CC will be clear favourites going into the final having lost no matches in the preliminary rounds of the competition. However, the No. 72 boys will be playing at home with only one loss in the preliminary rounds, will want to make amends for their defeat at the hands of Skeldon earlier in the competition which was played at the Skeldon ground.
The Skeldon team will be lead by Deon Esau, whilst the No. 72 Cut and Load will be lead by Davanand Chatterpaul, both of whom have done well with both bat and ball so far in this competition. The leading run scorer in this competition so far is Ritish Bhagratti of No. 72 Cut and Load with 166 runs from 3 innings followed by his team mate and captain Davanand Chatterpaul 115 runs from 3 innings and Deon Esau of Skeldon on 113 runs from 2 innings. The leading wicket taker is Davanand Chatterpaul with 13 wickets from 3 innings followed by Aslim Baksh of Skeldon with 9 from 3 innings also.
This competition started with five teams in Skeldon Community Centre, No. 72 Cut and Load, Crabwood Creek, No. 48 challengers and Yakusari and was played on a round robin basis 50 overs format with the top two teams reaching the final. The winner will receive $30,000 and a trophy, whilst the runner up will receive $20,000 and a trophy. $5,000 each will be given to Best bowler and best batsman in the competition, MVP of the competition and man of the match in the final. They will also receive a trophy each.
This competition in its second year is sponsored by Dr. Pooran Seepersaud, proprietor of Hotel Riverton Suites located along the public road of Corriverton and being organized by the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association. The executives of the UCCA are extending thanks to Dr. Seepersaud and his family for their support of cricket development in the Upper Corentyne area.
