As plans are being finalised with one of Guyana’s giant beverage companies for the annual Christmas basketball tournament in Linden, the organizing body, the Linden Amateur Basketball Association, has said that the opening matches in this competition will start Saturday when Block 22 Flames and Half Mile Bulls collide in the first game at 7.00pm and the second at 9.00pm is between Retrieve Raiders and Bankers Trust Falcons at the tournament venue the Mackenzie Sports Club.
The ten day tournament will be played on a round robin basis before the top four clubs advance to the semifinals and then the final on January 2, 2016.
The next playing day is Monday with game one being Retrieve Raiders and Bakers Trust Block 22 Flames at 7.00pm and the other at 9.00pm between Amelia’s Ward Jets and Victory Valley royals.
According to a release from the LABA, six clubs are competing in the tournament: Block 22 Flames, Retrieve Raiders, Bankers Trust Falcons, Amelia’s Ward Jets, Victory Valley Royals and Half Mile Bulls.
There will be a tournament briefing tomorrow (Friday) at 5.30pm at the Mackenzie Sports Club Lounge where the tournament rules, fixtures and other information about the tournament will be given. Clubs are invited to send their club captains, coaches and one executive member to the meeting.
The paying dates are December 5, 7, 11, 12, 16, 17, 19 and 29 when the semifinals are to be played and the grand final on January 2, 2016.
