The Guyana Softball League (GSL) 10/10 tournament sponsored by Mobile Wizard, Trophy Stall, Miss Love Trading and Wolf’s Furniture Store completed its seventh Weekend with several teams recording victories.
Meten Meer Zorg (MMZ) XI beat Zeeburg by 42 runs. Batting first, MMZ scored 137-9 with 36 extras. Zeeburg were bowled out for 95 in 8.1 overs in reply; Rooplall Deonarine took 2-11.
Leonora Youths outplayed Ocean View XI by 40 runs. Leonora batted first and scored a commanding 148-4. Raghunath Tulsieram struck a 59 (3×4, 6×6) while Krishna Murti scored 46 (3×4, 5×6). Ocean View replied with 108-7. Adrian Ramsammy made 42 (3×4, 4×6).
Viper XI trounced Next Level XI by 41 runs. Vipers XI took first strike and rattled up 160-6 with Assalam Zaman scoring 34 and Vickash Totaram 35. In reply Mark Ally with 43(3×6; 4×4) and Sanjay Hanuman 35 (3×6; 3×4) started brightly but after they were dismissed the rest of the batting fell away as Next Level ended on 119-7.
Power XI defeated Irfaan XI by 8 wickets. Irfaan XI batted first and were bundled out for 40 all out in 7 overs. Jaipaul Singh snared 4-5. Power XI then took 3.3 overs to hit off the runs for the lost of 2 wickets with Danny King hitting 21 not out.
Superstreet Reloaded gained a walkover from United Muslim Youth.
Meanwhile, two players Jermain Maxwell of United Muslim Youth and Dhaniram Moonsammy of Superstreet Reloaded have been banned from participating in any tournaments under GSL for bringing the game into disrepute. United Muslim Youth’s Wazir Ali has been fined and will not be allowed to play unless cleared by GSL.
Additionally, all captains are required to be at an urgent meeting today at 53 Kingston Street, Seafield, Leonora. Failure to attend can lead to teams not having any fixtures.
