A motor mechanic is nursing gunshot wounds to his leg and abdomen following an altercation with another man in South Ruimveldt over a ‘gutter water’ incident.
Yesterday police reported that about 09:15hrs Lawrence Moore, 39, was involved in an altercation with another man outside Automotive Care located at 3154 Aubrey Barker Street, South Ruimveldt, and was shot to his left leg.
He has been admitted to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital as the investigations continue. The suspect has not been arrested as yet.
At the scene just off of Spurwing Drive, the crime scene investigators had cordoned off the area and were searching for spent shells.
One woman said that she heard gunshots and ran outside to investigate. “I was lying down and I hear three shots. And when I come out I see Larry holding on to a guy who was shooting he to belly and I run back in and was bare shots after.”
She said the shooter entered the driver’s side of a white car and headed to the back of South “after Larry bend over”. She said when she saw the man bleeding she ran to alert Larry’s aunt who lives close by.
“The gun man was a normal youth-man with he face showing; He ain’t look like no killer. He had on a white jersey and nice, clean black pants.”
A security guard at a nearby business said he heard the shots and ran to the toilet but that was not before he saw the gunman drive off in a Spacio and seeing Larry being shot.
“I put Larry in a taxi and send he to a hospital. He left leg and he belly was bleeding. It didn’t look like a robbery to me,” he said.
Another witness who said he saw the entire incident said, “They went on the road arguing over some gutter water that may have spilled on someone and hold up the traffic from both sides.”
Larry had a spade in he hand and tell the driver about he mother and the man tell he that he disrespectful.” He also said that he saw the gunman step out of his car and they ended up in a scuffle. Five shots were fired.
“When the argument start the man run out he car and start cuff Larry. Larry had a spade in he hand and the man pull out he gun and after a few shots the gun even fell on the road while people watched. Then he picked it up, jumped in he car and drive away.”
