Squash aficionados will have the opportunity to enjoy another bout of intense competition as the annualJunior Christmas team tournament, sponsored by Farfan and Mendes, closes out another successful year for the sport in Guyana which started yesterday. The tournament, hosted by the Guyana Squash Association in collaboration with its corporate sponsor Digicel, will feature five 9-member teams and will be played at the Georgetown Club.
Two matches will be played on opening night. On court one at 6:00 P.M. team “Rising Stars” comprised of Nyron Joseph, Anthony Islam, Rebecca Low, Demetrius DeAbreu, Dominic Collins, Aliyah Persaud, Haley Carpenter, Mashal Allicock, and Louis DaSilva will kick start proceedings when they face Team “C” Alec Melville, Matthew Phang, Maya Collins, Ethan Jonas, Kirsten Gomes, James Mekdeci, Kamir Khan, Beau Fernandes, and Shiloh Asregado.
In the second match, which will take place on court three Team “B” featuring Benjamin Mekdeci, Daniel Islam, Makeda Harding, Lucas Jonas, Michael Alphonso, Nathan Rahaman, Georgiana Fernandes, Mikhail Persaud and Noah Rahaman will do battle against Team “E” – Taylor Fernandes, Alexander Cheeks, Michael Ramroop, Samuel Ince-Carvahal, Jason Gomes, Abosaide Cadogan, Liam Carpenter, Chad DeAbreu, and Christiana Fernandes.
The tournament will be completed this Sunday, with teams vying for top points in the round robin competition.
