– New board members likely by month end
Commissioner of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), Rickford Vieira, has been sent home
on administrative leave pending a review by Minister with responsibility for the Natural Resources sector, Raphael Trotman.
Trotman’s reason for sending the Commissioner on leave is based on a declaration of “no confidence” in his ability to carry out his duties by the GGMC Board, which has Clinton Williams as its Chairman.
Minister of State, Joseph Harmon said yesterday that the life of the current GGMC Board comes to an end on December 31. And Government is contemplating the appointment of a new Board.
In the interim, Harmon said that the Board would be allowed to make its decisions on daily matters.
