Despite the vastness of Guyana’s interior, police there were able to nab the suspect in the murder of a gold miner that occurred two weeks ago.
Assistant Commissioner of Police David Ramnarine, who is holding the portfolio of head of the Criminal Investigations Department (Crime Chief) in the absence of Senior Superintendent Wendell Blanhum, confirmed yesterday that the 22-year- old suspect in the murder of Shanti Solomon was arrested by police on Monday at Piara Landing.
Solomon, 33, of New Amsterdam, Berbice, was knifed to death at Puruni landing on November 23, last.
The suspect who hails from the East Coast of Demerara had fled the area and remained at large until police, acting on information received, captured him at Piara. He is expected to be brought to the city where he will be passed through the court on a charge of murder.
