The business end of the Georgetown Zone of the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Futsal Competition begins in earnest tonight with the commencement of the knockout phase, at the National Cultural Centre Tarmac and even the most serious pundit is getting difficulty predicting who will win this year’s competition.

It seems as though every remaining team has a legitimate chance of advancing to the national playoffs judging from the performances of many of the teams, especially the debutants who have been giving a good account of themselves against some of the more established teams in the tournament.
Teams such as Upsetters, Old School Ballers, Channel 9, Jamoon Drive and Shopping Plaza appear not to be fazed by the reputation of the more experienced teams and this has made picking a winner a tricky undertaking.
National champions Sparta Boss is still a potent team to face, but inaugural champions Back Circle proved that they are beatable after registering a morale boosting 2-1 win in their last encounter.
The most consistent team to date has been West Front Road ‘Gold is Money’, but they too have to be mindful of the up-started debutants Shopping Plaza who they collide with tonight.
Reigning G/town champions North Ruimveldt clash with West Back Road and this encounter promises fireworks from the opening whistle since both teams love to go on the offensive early.
Another former champion Leopold Street should be aware of the challenge that Channel 9 could offer and is therefore being cautioned not to underestimate the first timers who’ve not performed too badly.
With a total of over $1million up for grabs the positioning for places in the final four plus two spots in the national playoffs could get very exciting and the fans who continue to respond in large numbers could be the real winners tonight.
