A Paradise/ Jibb man is now battling for life at the Suddie Public Hospital after he chopped and slit his wife’s
throat. The man after butchering his wife turned the weapon on himself. He is nursing a deep gash to his throat. His condition has been regarded as critical.
Dead is 23-year-old Malanie Narine formerly of Jibb. The dead woman’s mother Sattie, said that after she learnt of her daughter’s death she ventured over to the deceased’s residence to see what had transpired.
Sattie said that her daughter has a four-year-old son. She was prevented by her “jealous” husband from socializing even with her family members.
Robin, the dead woman’s father said that he and his son-in-law were imbibing alcohol early Saturday at Robin’s house. Robin said that after a while his son-in-law and his wife went into their bedroom to sleep.
He said that he left his home and went over to one of his friends in Jibb. He said that he was alerted to his daughter’s demise after Narine’s sister came shouting, “Come see wah Vishnu do to Malanie.”
Robin said that he made it home in haste but was prevented from entering his house to have one last glimpse of his now dead daughter.
Robin added that his daughter told him that Vishnu threatened on three occasions to kill her. Robin said his
daughter and his son-in-law had been living together for the past eight years. He however said that the couple didn’t have any quarrel before the murder took place.
Police have since visited the scene and taken statements from family members. (Yannason Duncan)
