Region Two councillor, Hardatt Narine, a/k”Sham” has expressed his disgust over the sabotage of national assets.
Narine noted that a mobile pump which is almost two years old was sabotaged by persons who
remain at large. Narine said that it was brought to his attention that someone threw sand into the engine and cut the belt thus rendering the pump inoperable.
The furious councillor said that the incident occured in the latter part of September and senior officers including the engineer who is attached at the Region’s Drainage and Irrigation department are aware of the issue.
Narine is of the opinion that this issue needs to be addressed by the present Government since he strongly believes that there are persons in the Region who are bent on causing problems for the new Coalition government.
“There are elements in Region Two who are bent on making mischief.”
Narine said that after he was alerted to the issue, he immediately went and inspected the mobile pump which is stationed at Hampton Court, Essequibo Coast. Narine said that as a result of the sabotage of the mobile pump, the connecting rod would eventually bend which would further result in the cut and punch of the engine causing the pump to block, rendering it inoperable.
“The Government need to look into this serious matter because it’s like we have the same circus but this time with different clowns.”
Narine stressed that the pump costs some $12M. (Yannason Duncan)
