Murder charge pending

A young mother of Bush Lot, West Coast Berbice, has been taken into police custody  under suspicion of murdering her nine-month-old daughter.
According to information received, the accused had gotten into a relationship with an individual, unaware that he was already married.
The relationship eventually became fractured and things took a turn for the worse two weeks ago when the frustrated young woman decided to feed her baby porridge laced with insecticide.
The child was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital, and later transferred to the New Amsterdam  Hospital Hospital, then to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The child who was released from hospital into the care of the father, died on Wednesday. The police have since arrested the mother who had also consumed a cupful of the porridge and had to be treated.
