A 25-year-old Eccles resident is nursing a gunshot wound to his chest after he was held up and robbed by two gunmen on Tuesday night at Charlestown.
According to a Police Statement, Colin Abbott, of Eccles, East Bank Demerara, and Shabike Perreira, 23, were held up at gunpoint by two gunmen around 21:00 hrs on Ketley Street, Charlestown. Abbott was shot in the chest while the men were demanding that they hand over their cash and jewellery.
The perpetrators then escaped on two motor cycles driven by two accomplices. Abbott was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
When Kaieteur News visited the hospital, Abbott was undergoing surgery.
Police investigations are ongoing.
