tonight’s quarterfinals of the Stag/Cell Smart New Era Entertainment (NEE) Futsal Tournament in Linden at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Court.
Donovan Francis scored three goals to ensure Showstoppers beat Santos 6-2 in the featured game in the Mining Town. Ron Fiedtkou scored a brace, while Jessie Waldron secured the other goal in a lopsided win for Showstoppers.
Kevin Cadogan and Andre Phillips were the goal scorers for Santos.
Before the encounter, Magic Stars edged Plantain All-Stars 1-0 with Jermain Grandison scoring the lone dagger in the win. East Side Jammers and Ghetto Warriors played to a 3-3 stalemate in another contest before the knockout round tonight.
Denzil Bobb had a brace while Dequan Wilson scored the other goal for East Side Jammers. For the opposing, Ghetto Warriors, Moses Simon also had a brace while Larell Bordon had the other goal for the team.
In the opening game of the night, Trendsetters outclassed Redline 8-0; Ryan and Batson both had hat-tricks while Delon and Mathew both had a goal each for the winners. The semi-finals will be played tomorrow.
