I Movement Promotions, which seeks to promote health and wellness through sports, social and cultural interaction, have in the past promoted a multiplicity of events in various communities in Guyana, such as Bartica, Port Kaituma, Mahdia and Georgetown. Now they seek to promote the first ever five (5) a side football competition in Port Kaituma, Matarkai, Sub District, Region 1 slated to start on Saturday 14th and concludes on Sunday 15th November at the Oronoque Tarmac, Port Kaituma.
This is promising to be an exciting tournament with the future of young local talents such as James Peters, Cordel St Romain, Earl Gill and Bunny Fraser, and even some of the senior talents too such as Monty Giles, Mark Renolds just to name a few.
The champion team will cart off $100,000 and a trophy. The runner-up team will receives half that amount while the third place team goes home with $25,000.
Activities are sponsored by several corporate entities including Chinee and Daughters General Store, Banks DIH Ltd and Rawlo & Gailann’s Variety Store. An enterprising citizen, also a member of the community, Conrad St. Romain, has also contributed significantly towards the success of the event.
Cornel St. Romain is providing the lights and Chinee and Daughters Hardware is the major sponsor of the event.
Interested teams can contact the organizer, Patrick Adams, on telephone # 673-7777. Registration of teams will be done at the business place of one of the sponsors, Gailann’s Variety Store at the Waterfront. Teams are not required to pay a registration fee and patrons will also be able to view the matches free of cost. Music will be provided by Bullet Soundz and the first whistle will be blown at 18:00hrs sharp.
