is the new champion. He amassed 21 points. Ulric Brathwaite, Tyrone David and Navin Neighbarran all ended on 20 points. However, Tyrone David did not contest the tie breaker and had to settle for the 4th position. Ulric Brathwaite defeated Navin Neighbarran in the tie break to capture the 2nd place.
The contest in this category was always close. Another consecutive win for Linden Heywood would earn him a place in the ’A’ Division.
Meanwhile, the ‘A’ category which was played the next day on a six round Swiss System saw Khemraj Pooranmall (Raj) recapturing the crown from Linden player; Floyd Cumberbatch. Pooranmall earned 17 points ahead of Cumberbatch who had a close 16 points. Steve Bacchus and Mark Brathwaithe ended on 15 points each, but a tiebreaker gave the edge to Bacchus.
Trophies were donated by Colours boutique, Lalta Gainda of Rubis Bel Air, A. Ahamad Hydraulics Bagotstown, Berbice Bridge Inc., Hand-in-Hand Trust and Brans Security Service. President of the Guyana Draughts Association Mr. Jiaram extended gratitude to the sponsors, and Mr. Paul D’Anjou (coordinator).
On Sunday November 22nd the game continues with the International 100 square. The same six round Swiss System would be used. Registration begins at 10.30am and game time is 11.00am sharp. All players countrywide are invited to participate.
