Good Success and Sans Souci Jaguars recorded victories when the V-Net T20 competition commenced
on Sunday in Wakenaam. Good Success defeated Sans Souci by four wickets in the morning fixture at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground.
Batting first, Sans Souci scored 141-8. Roopnarine Persaud struck four fours and two sixes in scoring 47 while Varounie Sasepaul got 24 (2×4) and Reon Venture 23 (2×4 1×6). Off-spinners Gurnauth Khemraj grabbed 3-31 and Nazeer Mohamed 2-19.
Khemraj then stroked 40 inclusive of three fours and one maximum as Good Success responded with 144-6 in 18.3 overs. Mohamed made 28 (1×4) not out; Wayne Osbourne claimed 3-21.
In the afternoon fixture at the said venue, Sans Souci Jaguars overcame Zeelandia/Maria’s Pleasure by one wicket. Zeelandia/Maria’s Pleasure, led by half centuries from Ryan Adams and Navishual Pooran managed 147-9, taking first strike.
Ryan Adams blasted three fours and a similar number of sixes in 56, while Navishaul Pooran cracked an even half century; his knock contained fours and two sixes. Pacer Derwin Daniels picked up 3-21, Siddique Mohamed 3-31 and Beesham Moses 2-19.
Sans Souci Jaguars scored 148-9 in 19.1 overs in reply. Safraz Mohamed led with 48 including seven fours while Siddique Mohamed returned to hit an unbeaten 35 (3×4 3×6). Adams captured 2-22, Pooran 2-23 and Leorayan Ramlakhan 2-36.
The competition continues tomorrow with G-Square Cavaliers playing Noitgedacht at the said venue.
