The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) defeated Police by eight wickets to capture the Commander in Chief inter-services officers T20 title yesterday at the Police Sports Club, Eve Leary.
Police were reduced to 10-2, losing Omesh Arjune (01) and Ronald Ally (05) after they decided to bat in favourable sunshine. Steady bowling by GDF ensured Police never recovered as they were restricted to 95-9. Linden Lord scored 17, Ravindra Budhram 15 and Khalil Parsram 13. Andre Mc Farlene claimed 2-15, Farhan Uthman 2-19 and Stephon Ranch 2-23.
James Fraser then led the GDF chase with a fluent unbeaten 53. He added 27 for the opening stand with Avinash Deonarine (08) before sharing in a second wicket stand of 28 with Dane Haynes who went for 19. Man of the match Fraser and skipper Paul Castello (14*) saw their team home as they featured in an unbroken third wicket partnership of 48, finishing on 97-2 in 14.5 overs. (Zaheer Mohamed)
