Just over a week after the installation of the new executive body to conduct their affairs, those executives of the East Bank Football Association (EBFA) convened at the Betterverwagting offices of the Ansa
McAl Company to launch their 7-a-side Inter-Village football league competition at the Grove Community Centre Ground starting Tuesday November 10.
Fourteen teams will be vying for honours and the organizers disclosed that each club will be allowed to field up to two teams. The sponsors have supported the venture under the Stag Beer label.
President of the EBFA, Franklin Wilson, was at the function and shared the head table with Public Relations Officer (Ansa McAl), Darshanie Yussuf and Stag beer coordinator, Linden Henry.
Ms Yussof expressed delight at once again being afforded the opportunity to assist in the development of the sport. She said that the gesture was more or less reciprocal since her company has enjoyed remarkable support from patrons in those communities. She said that her executives are convinced that their input serves to benefit the youths in those communities. “We wish to see pockets of footballer in various parts of the country blossoming into good players and citizens so we will continue to support these ventures,” assured Ms Yussuf.
Mr. Wilson thanked Ms Yussuf for the kind patronage. He assured his benefactors that all systems are in place for a productive tournament. The newly elected President further informed that his entity has expanded the executive base to eleven members which caters for representation from all of the affiliated clubs. Mr. Wilson then beseeched the public to support Ansa McAl in their continued bid to develop the sport. The tournament will be conducted on a knockout basis.
