Linden’s New Era Entertainment (NEE) 2nd annual Stag/Cell Smart Futsal Knockout tournament kicks off tonight at the Mackenzie Sports Club Hard Court in Linden from 6pm with eight teams vying for quarterfinal spots.
Following tonight’s opening; the tournament continues tomorrow, November 11 and 13 with the finals on November 21 at the same venue. The winners will pocket $250,000 as the second place team takes home $150,000.
The third and fourth place teams in the 16-team contest get $75,000 and $50,000 respectively. Trophies will accompany all cash prizes. In addition, prizes will be awarded to the Best Goal Keeper and Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament.
There will be exhibition games for schools and mining companies during the competition. The 16 participating teams are required to pay a $5000 registration fee; NEE hosted the tournament for the first time last year. Bumper to Bumper and Broad Money Spare Parts are other sponsors of the competition.
