The outstanding work of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club continues to attract the attention of numerous persons who are expressing interest in working along with the organisation. Guyanese born Canadian Businessman Prem Punwasi of Canadian Surplus has joined a long list of donors in support of the club’s activities. According to the club, Punwasi has made a significant contribution to the Cricket Development Programme and pledged more assistance in the near future since he is highly impressed with their work describing them as a role model organisation.
Punwasi was introduced to the club by one of their own members, Royston Crandon, who plays as a professional in the Scarborough Cricket Association Premier League. The former West Indies ODI player stated that it was a pleasure to promote the club that has touched and transformed the lives of thousands of youths.
Crandon stated that the Berbice based club has played major roles in the cricketing careers of himself and others including Assad Fudadin, Esuan Crandon, Delbert Hicks, Rajiv Ivan, Shemaine Campbelle, Jason Sinclair, Eon Hooper and others and it is only fair that the players express gratitude to Management by promoting it to sponsors.
Punwasi, visited the RHTY&SC after the recommendation by Crandon and had a lengthy discussion with the Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster and several executives. He stated that he was impressed with their activities and the work they have been doing to make a positive difference in the lives of youths, the elderly and less fortunate.
He praised them for undertaking over 200 programmes/activities yearly and urged them to maintain the high standards they have set themselves. The Port Mourant born businessman pledged continued support to the Club and expressed confidence that the Cricket Development Programme would continue to unearth more players like Crandon, whom he described as a role model sports ambassador for the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club.
Foster expressed gratitude to Punwasi for the donation and stated that it would greatly assist them to successfully implement their ambitious Cricket Developmental Programme for members between the ages of 10 to 18 years.
Foster informed that the programme which would involve about 60 youths would be directly supervised by his office and Club Coach Collis Butts. He also praised Crandon for his promotion of the Club, noting that it was quite pleasing to note that the players remember their roots.
Foster stated that only recently Eon Hooper, another club member obtained assistance from his adopted Trinidad & Tobago Cricket Club and expressed confidence that more players would continue this trend.
