Tons from Subadhar (127) and Permaul (122) highlight latest round
It was a run spree showdown between Belvedere Battle Steel and Toopoo Rising Star when play in the New Building Society Second Division 40-over cricket competition continued in Berbice, recently.
In a match that was reduced to 20 overs as a result of rain, Belvedere Battle Steele batted first and benefitted from 176 run opening stand in just 16 overs from Michael Subadhar who slammed 127 (2×4 13×6) and Neil Pike who contributed 76 (5×4 6×6) guiding their team to an imposing 221-3 in their 20 overs.
When Toopoo Rising Star replied, they too got off to a rousing start with the opening pair, led by Yoganand Permaul’s 122 (6×4 11×6) almost seeing their team to victory; they feel agonizingly short by a single run, 220-7 off their 20 overs.
Elsewhere, Bust Lot Challengers led by 56 (7×4) from former Berbice Under-15 batsman Asif Khan and 51 (4×4) off the bat of Joel Dilchand, rattled up 261-6 in 30 overs against Bush Lot United who could only respond with 142; Brandon Balkissoon picked up 4-15 for Challengers.
Off-spinners Loyydel Lewis and Exekiel Kempadoo picked up four wickets each for Port Mourant to bowl out Letterkenny Young Star for 105 in 20. Port Mourant went on the win by 6 wickets.

At Port Mourant – Port Mourant beat Letterkenny Young Star by 6 wickets. Letterkenny Young Star 105 in 20 overs; Satesh Budho 26, Exekiel Kempadoo 4-22 and Loyydel Lewis 4-28. Port Mourant 108-4 in 32 overs; Darmesh Seenarine 49.
At Whim – Tain Block Four defeated Whim National by 3 wickets. Whim National 140 in 34.3 overs; Arnold Deosarran 30, Madankumar Budhram 3-24, Mahendra Baldeo 2-10 and Jaipersaud Rawana 2-31. Tain Block Four 141-7 in 31 overs; Madankumar Budram 39 and Parasram Tilkuram 3-34.
At Chesney – Chesnay beat Sand Reef by 37 runs. Chesney 176 in 35.1 overs; Yourdhan Gurdyall 41, Dinesh Harilall 35, Shivnarine Sahid 4-28, Anand Singh 2-22. Sand Reef 139 in 33.4 overs; Anand Singh 32, Mohan Jagmohan 25, Narine Deonarine 3-23, Dinesh Harilall 3-21, Safraz Bacchus 2-8.
