The family of the late motorcyclist Quincy (Greene) Lynch, who died following an accident that involved a Medical doctor, is seeking closure and that may soon be realized.
Yesterday, six months after Lynch was knocked down and killed, Police Traffic Chief Dion Moore informed that the Director of Public Prosecution has recommended that an inquest is to be held into the matter.
According to Traffic Chief Moore, as at yesterday, the file was being prepared to be sent to the Clerk of courts to facilitate the process, which is expected to commence on Monday November 9th.
Meanwhile, the parents of the now dead 26-year old painter are aggrieved and have expressed frustration regarding the slothful police efforts to address the case, as it would appear that the driver has gotten off scotch free.
June and Lyncoln Green, the frustrated parents of the late Lynch, of Lot 36 Side Line Dam, Mocha East Bank Demerara had informed this publication that they were told that the file was sent to the DPP’s office and that it has been returned, yet the doctor who was behind the wheel of the car that hit their son is yet to be charged.
They said they have made countless visits to the Providence Police Station, where the matter is being investigated, but are yet to receive any positive word from the police.
“My son was not a dog, and he wasn’t a menace to society, yet the man who knocked him down on May 3, Dr. Henry Phillips, on the East Bank Public Road, Providence is free and without any charges against him,” the mother said.
She further noted that her son suffered head and spinal injuries, which resulted in his death the next day and the police seem to be doing nothing about this matter.
“It’s frustrating running back over and over and not getting any answers,” the evidently still aggrieved woman said with agreement from her husband.
“I want somebody to look into this matter because it seems that only some people does get justice and others don’t.”
According to reports, after fighting for his life at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), motorcyclist, Quincy Greene succumbed to the injuries he sustained in a smash up on Sunday May 3.
The painter who worked with his father was involved in an accident in the vicinity of the Princess Hotel, Providence, East Bank Demerara and was struck off his motorcycle by a car driven by a doctor.
Dexter Greene, the dead man’s brother, said that after the accident, the doctor played a disappearing role on family members.
Greene explained that he saw the doctor at his brother’s hospital bedside the night of the accident but had no idea that he was the person behind the wheel of the car that injured his brother.
He said that he asked the doctor what had happened to his brother as he was still trying to make sense of what had transpired but was greeted with silence.
It was not until the doctor disappeared that a taxi driver informed the family that his customer, the doctor, was the driver of the car that struck the motorcyclist.
Quincy Greene was the second of five siblings who the mother described as “a very helpful son who was never a problem to anyone.” (Mondale Smith)
