Dear Editor,
I love my fellow Guyanese, but let’s raise the bar a little….this is not to insult anyone.
First of all, too often many remain quiet on almost every issue affecting their community, or the entire country, and in so doing we allow the politicians to call the shots.
It’s funny how people hardly speak out (except just a handful of us) on the disgraceful condition of the Le Repentir Cemetery, and on how shabby our own police officers are treated when killed in the line of duty.
This is exactly what happens when citizens remain silent, and say: “Me ain’t gat time fuh dat…Yall try deh…”Hopefully, we can all stand up and demand better, or we can continue to complain about many things.
Finally, I’m sure that the death of NYPD Detective Randolph Holder Jr. will be the starting point for our local fallen heroes and their immediate family to be treated with respect and dignity by all. That’s exactly what the NYPD does…and that’s what we need to do. Yes, we can do it
