Devika Persaud, the proud mother of triplets Radha, Reenica and Rajshri Mansaram, credits herself for doing an extraordinary job in raising her three beautiful daughters who are celebrating their 21st birthday on Monday.
Persaud said that being a single parent should not be an excuse for not being able to produce children with good moral traits.
“I can say that my children although they are today young adults, I don’t have worries with them like some parents.”
Persaud, who doesn’t believe in throwing a party for her daughters whenever their birthday comes around, believes that recognizing the needy is a better option.
She recalls how she was pampered with gifts from well-wishers, including organizations like the local Lions Club in Region Two, when her daughters were younger. Persaud said that she taught her daughters early to give back to the less fortunate.
The proud mom also said that her daughters would be making a donation to a Nursery school child.
On Monday, the triplets would be venturing outside of the Region to engage in a social event.
Persaud said she that she has noticed that the girls are closer today than before. She said that they do everything together, including wearing the same attire.
Persaud said that after she had given birth in 1994, at the Woodlands Hospital it was a “big surprise” after she learnt that she had delivered triplets.
But soon after, she returned to Land of Plenty, on the Essequibo Coast, where the task of raising her daughters almost single-handedly began.
Persaud acknowledged the financial support of her grandmother, who resides in Canada, and the kind hearted persons from various parts of Guyana who assisted her during that challenging period.
The girls attended the Affiance Nursery school before moving on to the C.V.Nunes Primary and later to Cotton Field Secondary.
The girls two of whom are employed with a businessman in the Region are also actively involved in charitable initiatives. They are members of the Lions Club Youth and are also involved in church activities.
Radha, Reenica and Rajahri Mansaram credit their mom for the principles she has instilled in them.
One of their main wishes is to meet other triplets.
