Having already charged one suspect, police are now looking for another man in connection with the murder of Hamson’s General Store proprietor Abdool Farouk Ghanie, also known as Farouk Hamid.
Hamid was killed on April 16, 2015, at 97 Collingwood Avenue, Nandy Park, and East Bank Demerara.
They are trying to locate Kemo Tyron Evans in relation to the matter.
A bulletin stated that Evans is 20 years, of African ancestry, and gave Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara and Sophia, as his last known addresses.
Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Kemo Tyron Evans is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 226-1333, 225-2722, 226-9941, 911 or the nearest police station. All information will be treated with strict confidentiality.
In July, Police charged Floyd Anthony Rammit, of Kaneville, East Bank Demerara, in connection with the murder. Rammit was employed as Ghanie’s handyman.
It is alleged that on April 15, Ghanie left his home and went to his place of business on Regent Street. He returned home around 18:00hrs that day. Police said that at 20:00hrs on April 15, three men were seen leaving the businessman’s home.
On April 16, around 07:20hrs, neighbours found the body of Abdool Farouk Ghanie lying at the back of his yard in a pool of blood. There were wounds to his left side chest and cheek.
The police were summoned and found that the businessman’s firearm, cell phone and other items were missing. Ghanie was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations were carried out and these led to Rammit’s arrest.
