The ninth annual National Sports Commission (NSC) ‘Tour of Guyana’ Five-Stage Cycle Road Race rides off today from Corriverton Police Station, Berbice. The event is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Communities, as well as corporate entities.
The contingent (cyclists, officials and staff) will have travelled to Corentyne yesterday in preparation for the event. The Tour of Guyana will travel six regions and three counties; the schedule for one of the biggest cycle races of the calendar is below:
Stage 1 (Thursday October 29, 2015): Race commences at 07:30hrs from the Corriverton Police Station and finishes at Alexander Street, New Amsterdam at approximately 08:40hrs. Distance: 46.6Miles – 75km.
Stage 2 (Thursday October 29, 2015): Race commences at 14:00hrs from Rosignol and finishes at Carifesta Avenue at approximately 16:15hrs. Distance: 60.4 Miles – 96km.
Stage 3 (Friday October 30, 2015): Race commences at 09:00hrs from Wales Police Station and finishes at Bushy Park (Parika) at approximately 10:00hrs. Distance: 35 Miles – 56km.
Stage 4 (Saturday October 31, 2015): Race commences at 07:30hrs from Supenaam proceeds to Charity and finishes at Suddie at approximately 10:00hrs. Distance: 67.1 Miles – 107.05km.
Stage 5 (Sunday November 1, 2015): Race commences at 08:00hrs from Kara Kara and finishes at National Sports Commission, Homestretch Avenue. Distance: 64.5 Miles – 103.3km.
Total Distance: approximately 266 Miles – 430km.
