Selman and Mangar are first awardees
The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) on Friday last unveiled its highest award as part of its Silver Jubilee anniversary celebrations. The Dolphin Award of Excellence would be the elite award of the club and would only be awarded to ten persons, annually.
Long standing sponsors of the club, Robert Selman of the Guyana Beverage Inc., and Ravi Mangar of Gizmos and Gadgets were the first awardees, while eight others would be honoured before the end of this year.
Club Secretary/CEO, Hilbert Foster informed that over the past 25 years, the club has worked beyond the call of duty to become the best, because it strongly believes in making a positive difference in the lives of youths, the elderly and the less fortunate.
The club, he stated, is unmatched by the number of programmes it undertakes on an annual basis some includes sports, awards, education, youth development, anti-drugs, charity and anti-crime.
The club’s success, Foster stated would not have been possible without the support and encouragement of numerous sponsors who have stood by them in and out of seasons. Foster proudly stated that the club has been able to attract the support of corporate Guyana due to its remarkable track record of achievement, visionary leadership and making a positive difference.
The Dolphin Award of Excellence would be the highest of eight awards that the RHTYSC presents annually and was specially named (Dolphin) because of its personal well known character traits of being disciplined, compassionate and dedicated to excellence.
Awardees would be selected by the Educational and Public Relations Committee of the RHTY&SC. Mr. Selman in his capacity as General Manager of the GBI has sponsored the Busta Champion of Champions cricket tournament for 12 successive years and over the years, the company has also supported hundreds of programmes of the club, including Annual Award Ceremony for members, annual cricket academy, say NO to drugs, Christmas charity programme, annual magazines and tribute to Heroes.
Gizmos and Gadgets CEO, Mr. Mangar has been the official sponsor of club’s first division and Under-23 teams for the past six years. Foster hailed him as one of the foundations of their success.
Mangar he stated, is a role model to every member of the club and over the years he has also supported the club’s other programmes especially the members award programme, Say YES to Education Campaign, the club’s charity drive to assist less fortunate children.
Both Selman and Mangar expressed gratitude to the Management of the club for honouring them with its highest award. Selman described the club as a role model organization which gets things done and always fulfills its commitments to sponsors.
Manger stated that he views his sponsorship of Guyana’s leading youth and sports organization as a privilege and praised the club for its outstanding service to youths and the less fortunate.
