Several roads in West Ruimveldt, Georgetown, have been repaired. The City Clean-up Task Force, months ago, had visited their area, removing debris, cleaned canals and drains and now, the Force Account Unit of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure is in their area, paving their community’s roads.
The areas recently completed by the Force Account Unit include Gilhuys Square, Industrial Site, Crescent Street, Cactus Street, Shoppers’ Lane and Ice House Road, a Government release said yesterday.
Rehabilitation works were also done to the West Ruimveldt front road and others.
Residents, calling for speed humps, noted that the roads were impassable at one time with taxis refusing to come.
The rehabilitation works to community roads are not restricted to Region Four. Recently, tenders were advertised for the maintenance of a number of roads in Region Six. These include Islington to Everton, Toney Street, Chesney Main Road and Vryman’s Erven Road, along with others.
