RHT Gizmos and Gadgets beat Police to advance
Rose Hall Town (RHT) Gizmos and Gadgets defeated Police by four wickets to advance to the semi final
of the Bobby Deonarine and Tom Gruntzel Tenelec Inc 50-over tournament in Berbice.
Police were bowled out for 101 in 26.5 overs, batting first after the game was reduced to 36 overs at Area ‘H’ ground.
Essequibo opener Norwayne Fredericks was the only batsman providing resistance with 27 as pacer Keon Sinclair claimed 3-13 off 7 overs; Collis Butts had 3-30 off 6.5 overs while Clinton Pestano and Troy Mathieson picked up two each.
In reply, RHT Gizmos and Gadgets lost Assad Fudadin who was caught at first slip off Michael Newland without scoring, however, Jason Sinclair and Vidal Crandon added 47 for the second wicket before Crandon was trapped LBW by Kwesi Mickle for 15 while Sinclair was dismissed for 35.
RHT Gizmos and Gadgets then lost Renwick Batson (00) and Clinton Pestano (05) in quick succession to be shakily placed at 70-5 in the 19th over.
But Rajiv Ivan (15) and Eon Hooper (12) took their team to the brink of victory before they both departed, Shawn Pereira (05*) not out and Troy Mathieson (01*) saw them home.
Andel Doris claimed 3-14 and Kwesi Mickle 2-26. RHT Gizmos and Gadgets will take on Young Warriors in the semi final tomorrow at the said venue.
The winner will clash with Albion on October 27 (tentative) in the final at a venue to be named.
