It’s more than two months away but already organizers of the Kennard Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) is already in planning mode in preparation for the 2015 Boxing Day horserace meet scheduled for Saturday December 26 at the Bush Lot Farm Corentyne.
Speaking with Kaieteur Sport recently, President of the KMTC, Justice Cecil Kennard assured that organizers are putting all the logistics in place and the excitement witnessed in previous meets would be replicated.
In regards to quality, Mr. Kennard revealed that horses that are bred in the West Indies will once again comprise an integral force among the competitors.
The prize money will also be lucrative and turfites are assured that most of the animals on show would be at their best.
Seven races are carded for the day and the feature attraction will see horses in the A3 & Lower category battling for over one million dollars in cash, over a distance of one mile.
Additionally, turfites will be entertained with the G1 and Lower event, also over a distance of one mile and where the winner carts off one million dollars.
Other races carded for the day include the J1 & Lower and 3 years old, H1 & lower with the West Indian bred animals, I & Lower, E & Lower and the K1 & Lower.
Entries close on Saturday December 19 and late entries will not be entertained. Enquiries could be directed to Justice Kennard (623-7609) or Roopnarine Matadial (326-3192).
