A 39-year-old Essequibo resident has been charged in connection with the stabbing death of fisherman Ronald Emanuel Reid on a trawler last week Tuesday.
Gregory Nahar called “Biggs, of Paradise Village, Essequibo, was remanded yesterday after appearing before Magistrate Rhondell Weaver at the Blairmont Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.
The incident occurred around 14:30hrs while the fishing boat was off the Lichfield, West Coast Berbice foreshore.
Reid, 27, of Lot 25 Castello Housing Scheme, was a member of the six-man crew aboard the vessel.
Investigations have revealed that Reid was involved in an argument with the accused and his brother, when he was stabbed to his back.
Gregory, who was unrepresented in court, is to return to court on November 4 at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court.
